Atomi raises $9 million in funding to boost innovation and support for schools

At Atomi, our mission is to unlock the world's potential by optimising the way we teach and learn. We aim to empower teachers and schools with the resources to achieve this, creating an educational environment that engages students and inspires a love for learning.

As the year draws to a close, we look to see how we can do even more in 2022. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce our recent funding endeavours. Atomi has raised AUD $9 million in a Series A funding round led by venture capital firm OIF Ventures along with a number of leading Australian investors.

But what does this actually mean for our users?

We can support more schools

At Atomi, we champion hundreds of thousands of students and teachers in their learning journey at schools across Australia and the UK. Now, we can support even more.

COVID-19 has changed the world in many ways, and education is no exception. With schools closed across the globe, teachers and educators have been compelled to reimagine the role of technology in learning.

"Post COVID, school will never be the same. Although we're seeing a return to in-person instruction, every student and teacher now has first-hand experience of the benefits the technology-enabled classroom can bring. From giving students the flexibility to catch up on a lesson at home, to being able to create a personalised learning path for every student, the advantages a platform like Atomi brings can be profound."
- Thomas O’Donahoo, Atomi Co-Founder

The impact of COVID is expected to continue in the years to come, with the last 18 months representing a systemic and permanent shift in the way schools think about the delivery of education.

With this funding, Atomi can empower more schools to embrace the change. Adopting a technology-enabled classroom allows students and teachers to be more efficient and effective, with enormous flow-on effects in every aspect from engagement to outcomes.

“We are striving to be at the frontier of learning and the Atomi flipped learning lessons coupled with the intuitive data intelligence has ensured our students from year 9-12 are at the forefront of the next iteration of schooling.”
- Peter Webster, Principal of St Mark’s Catholic College

We can create more content

Our team will be able to create more lessons, quizzes and practice sessions for our existing courses, adding breadth, depth and better preparing students for their exams. We will also be able to develop content for more subjects and more year groups.

In recent years, we’ve introduced new Study Skills and Critical Thinking courses that extend beyond the curriculum, to assist students in areas critical to their success and wellbeing. This investment will see us provide more support for students outside the classroom and deliver a holistic learning experience.

We can continue to innovate

Atomi started as a video platform. Since then, we’ve pushed the boundaries to create a comprehensive learning platform, with tailored insights, custom revision sessions, AI-driven recommendations and much more. With this funding, Atomi can continue developing to provide more digital resources to improve the learning environment.

“This round of funding will allow us to increase the rate of innovation of the platform and offer more support to teachers and students across Australia and the UK.”
- Rob Barakat, Atomi Co-Founder

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved for our users so far, but are even more excited to continue innovating our platform to empower more students, teachers and schools to be the best they can be.
